MENTONE - Justin Kim on Thursday evening became the first Democrat to appear at a candidate forum hosted by the Redlands Tea Party Patriots.
For the last few months, the tea party group has held candidate forums at its general meetings on the first Thursday of each month at Mill Creek Cattle Company restaurant.
Candidates who have appeared at the forums are running in the June primary and have focused on unemployment, budget and illegal immigration issues.
Kim, who is running for the 31st Congressional District seat, was welcomed to the podium to applause. But he drew some negative comments from members of the audience as he spoke and replied to questions.
